August Flight
Bobby, Pat's youngest child, finds himself returning for his last semester at Clemson University with his mother in tow. She is a manic-depressive and he has had to move her to a local boarding home to care for her. Things become further complicated when Bobby runs into his former girlfriend, Missy, and they attempt to rekindle their relationship. Feeling abandoned by the rest of his family, Bobby struggles with feelings of anger and frustration as he tries to do the right thing. Together they travel through periods of hope and hopelessness, with Pat begrudgingly and often humorously going from being parent to child. From the beginning she promises not to be a burden and Bobby promises not to walk away. Some promises, however, just can't be kept. |
